How do I begin?
The most successful candidates start from here:
- You usually apply for such opportunities during your sophomore or junior years of study, though first-year students are also encouraged to make inquiries.
- You ideally have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Most successful candidates also have a record of achievement in service, organizational leadership, or scholarly research and publication.
- You are willing to learn through the process of developing your application for these opportunities, which offers a great personal and professional developmental experience.

The Rhodes Trust offers comprehensive financial support to Rhodes Scholars, enabling
them to pursue degree programs at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
This prestigious scholarship program aims to foster intellectual growth and broaden

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study and teaching opportunities
in over 140 countries to recent graduates and graduate students. This prestigious program aims to foster mutual understanding between the United States
and other nations. Applications for the Fullbright Scholarship typically are due around October of each
year.

The Fulbright Summer Institutes are three to four week programs for US undergraduate students, particularly freshman
and sophomores who have little travel experience outside of the United States. Participants
can explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK while experiencing higher
education at a UK university.

The Udall Foundation provides scholarships of $7,000 each to college sophomores and
juniors who have demonstrated leadership, public service, and a commitment to issues
pertaining to Native American nations or the environment. This program aims to support
the education of students who are dedicated to making a positive impact in these critical

Annual Campus Deadline: Early February
The NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program is focused on attracting top-tier candidates
who are pursuing PhDs or MD-PhDs in biomedical research fields. Full funding is provided
for PhD training, with degrees conferred by Oxford or Cambridge. Significant supplemental
support is also provided for medical training. The NIH MD-PhD Program allows students
to conduct research in the NIH intramural research program as part of a coordinated
plan of dual-degree training with a U.S. medical school. Students have the option
to combine medical school training with the NIH OxCam PhD program, choosing from one
of three academic tracks.
