As a University that prioritizes helping its students discover what they’re good at and why that’s good for the world, Duquesne has long focused on achieving successful and positive student outcomes. This year’s ranking season illustrates that the University’s focus is working and benefitting both students and alumni.

One ranking in particular shows Duquesne selected as one of the top 50 among national universities for the earning power of its graduates and in the top 75 among national universities for its service impact.

On August 28, the Washington Monthly released its annual college guide and rankings—considered a more “socially conscious alternative” to traditional rankings—focuses on four-year schools and rankings based on equally weighted contributions to the public good: social mobility, research and promoting public service.

Duquesne’s service rank is listed at an impressive no. 63 (4th among Pennsylvania schools) and the University’s earning power ranked no. 46 nationally (5th in the state). Washington Monthly also included Duquesne among its “Best Bang for the Buck” schools in the Northeast, which highlights how well schools help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices. The list is created by isolating the social mobility metrics from the main rankings of four-year institutions.

Today’s new U.S. News & World Report has again recognized Duquesne in several categories as the University continues to climb in the Best Colleges 2024 rankings. Among this year’s highlights:

  • Best Value-National Universities No. 56
  • Best Undergraduate Nursing No. 52
  • National University No. 151.

Additionally, this year’s The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse made several improvements to its ranking methodology, including a greater focus on the importance of student outcomes (now 70% of the overall score), including graduation rates and salaries, and a greater emphasis on measuring the value added by colleges.

Announced in early September, The Wall Street Journal ranked Duquesne University no. 143 among the top 400 universities in the country by and is in the top 13 schools ranked from Pennsylvania.

In addition, Duquesne is again listed by The Princeton Review in its Best 389 Colleges: 2024 Edition. The annual list focuses on academic quality across a variety of categories based on surveys of college students. Duquesne students in particular lauded the nursing, education, business and biomedical engineering fields; state that professors are passionate about they teach and want to see their students succeed; and describe campus as a place where “there are people of all religions and walks of life,” and that spirited discussions in “the welcoming nature of the Duquesne classroom” recognize that those “from different political, social, and financial backgrounds have unique experiences” and make for a more enriched learning experience.

Money magazine also listed Duquesne University in its Best Colleges in America 2023 rankings, which highlight schools that combine quality with affordability. The publication provides a practical analysis that scores data points under the umbrellas of quality, affordability and student outcomes to develop this year’s list of 736 four-year colleges where a student’s “tuition (and time) is likely to pay off.”
