Biography

Professor MacMillen began her appointment at Duquesne in Fall 2006.  Her interests cross over into theology, philosophy, and literature.  She has published in Crosscurrents, The Journal of Public and Professional Sociology, The Journal of Religion and Society, Philosophy and Theology, and The Journal of Religion, Conflict and Peace, and other venues.

Primarily a social theorist, she brings this perspective to the classroom in Survey of Sociology, Classical Sociological Theory, Introduction to Peace and Justice, Sociology of Sex and Gender, and classes examining religion: Sociology of Religion and Sociology of Catholicism.

MacMillen is currently exploring social theories as displayed in literature and Buddhist perspectives on conflict and social psychology.
