Biography

Robert M. Hildenbrand, CPA, MBA, is an Adjunct Professor of Healthcare Management in the John G. Rangos Sr. School of Health Sciences at Duquesne University Master of Health Administration Program at Duquesne University since 1998 in both graduate and undergraduate programs. He has also served as an Adjunct at the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, Robert Morris University and Duquesne University Graduate School of Business. Robert recently retired as Chief Financial Officer for the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill overseeing the accounting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, investment management, employee benefit and systems implementation functions. He has consistently focused on process improvements, restructuring and automating functions in both his professional and educational careers.

Robert served as Supervisor of Accounting at Rockwell International and has had twenty plus years of experience in the healthcare industry at South Hills Health System (Jefferson Regional Medical Center), UPMC (Controller), Brownsville General Hospital (CFO) and Healthways, Inc. (CFO). His responsibilities in these positions included Financial Planning, Corporate Budgeting, Director of Financial Investments, Financial Analysis, Accounting, Leasing, Cash Management and Systems Implementation. During his healthcare career he developed and coordinated the following industry educational opportunities and procedural systems in the following areas:

  • Supervisory development education module for budgeting/finance (South Hills Health System)
  • Healthcare Finance education program for St Clair Hospital management staff (held at Duquesne University)
  • Organized an Investment and tax exempt bond financing seminar for the Healthcare Financial Management Association

Robert presently serves on the Finance Committees for The Sisters of St. Basil the Great and St. John’s Cathedral Byzantine Catholic Church.

Other activities have included Board and Investment Committee Member for the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill; Board Member and Treasurer for the Pittsburgh Area Slovak Folk Ensemble (PAS); Chair of a networking association for students and graduates of the Duquesne University School of Business; provided a basic personal financing/savings program for grade school students as part of “Project Business” (a collaboration with Junior Achievement and local corporations) and arranged, recorded and performed liturgical music compositions for the church choir of the former St. Rita Roman Catholic church.
