Biography

John Moyer is a vocal coach and staff accompanist at the Mary Pappert School of Music, where he also teaches diction and repertoire classes for singers and assists the Opera Workshop. He also serves as staff accompanist in the music department at the University of Pittsburgh and has worked for the Pittsburgh Opera (chorus accompanist and Operalogue programs with Mija Novich), Pittsburgh Opera Center under Tito Capobianco, Carnegie Mellon University (staff accompanist), and Opera Theater of Pittsburgh with Gary Race. He has performed with the Pittsburgh Concert Society, Alliance Francaise, and Sweetwater Arts Center in Sewickley. He was music director and pianist for the world premiere performances of Jeremy Beck’s The Biddle Boys and Mrs. Soffel for the Tuesday Musical Club of Pittsburgh (2001) and pianist for first English language performances of Menotti’s The Telephone and The Medium in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria with the Duquesne University Opera Workshop under Guenko Guechev (2004).
