Biography
Chief Eric L. Holmes has served as an accomplished and respected law enforcement member for twenty-five years. Chief Holmes' journey has provided him with an uncommon breath of law enforcement experience, giving him a unique perspective and passion for advancing 21st century policing.
Chief Holmes has vast knowledge in special events planning and homeland security-related topics. Chief Holmes is committed to shaping the future of law enforcement.
Chief Holmes earned his BA Degree Slippery Rock University and his MS Degree in Criminal Justice from Point Park University. Chief Holmes graduate of the CMU Tepper School of Business TALI Executive Leadership Program. Chief Holmes is a graduate of the Naval Post Graduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security Executive Leaders Program.
Chief Holmes has considerable executive level training to include: FBI Leadership, Session # 17, United States Secret Service Law Enforcement Executive Leaders Seminar, Senior Management Institute for Police, Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, Executive and Command Leadership Institutes.
Chief Holmes belongs to a number of professional and volunteer activities (past and present) to include: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Leadership Pittsburgh LDI XVIII, RMU and SRU Criminal Justice Advisory Committees.
Chief Holmes served as President of the Slippery Rock University Alumni Association. Former Governor Ed Rendell appointed Chief Holmes to the Slippery Rock University Council of Trustees where he served from 2009 to 2013. In June of 2008, the Eric L. Holmes Criminal Justice Scholarship was established at Slippery Rock University.
Chief Holmes is responsible for overseeing and managing the entire Department of Public Safety which includes Patrol, Operations and Administrative Sections as well as the Business Office. Chief Holmes is an active member of the Campus Community Risk Team (CCRT) and serves on several other boards offering his law enforcement expertise.
