Jamie McConaha, PharmD

Jamie L. McConaha, PharmD, CGP, TTS, BCACP is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice in the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy. Dr. McConaha received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Duquesne in 2007. Prior to joining the faculty at Duquesne, she completed an academic teaching and research fellowship through the school of pharmacy. During her fellowship, Dr. McConaha completed research projects that focused on the effects of caffeine and choline on short-term memory and recall and the health impact of a worksite pharmacist-directed wellness center on risks for cardiovascular disease. She also gained an interest in cosmeceuticals which led to the development of an elective course, 'Dermatological Therapeutics and Drug Delivery Systems' and her certification and membership as a compounding pharmacist through the Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA).

Dr. McConaha is also a clinical pharmacist for the internal medicine and family practice physician group Preferred Primary Care Physicians (PPCP). At this site she works with the PPCP healthcare team to improve patient's health outcomes and quality of life through disease prevention and disease management programs. Specifically, Dr. McConaha performs services for transitions of care patients, medication reconciliation, various quality initiatives to ensure proper medication usage, and medication therapy management. In addition she is a certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist and leads group and individual smoking cessation classes for patients of the practice within the offices and at St. Clair Hospital. Dr. McConaha serves as the faculty preceptor for advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) student pharmacists, as well as Duquesne University community pharmacy practice residents and academic and teaching fellows. She is also the Residency Program Director of the Duquesne University/Giant Eagle Pharmacy Community Practice Residency program and the Director of the Community Pharmacy Practice Concentration.

Dr. McConaha is the Immediate Past President of the Allegheny County Pharmacists Association (ACPA) and is currently completing her second consecutive term on the Board of the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association in the Director of Alternative Practice Settings seat. She is involved in numerous committees and projects through these organizations. In addition, Dr. McConaha is an active member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). She is advisor for the School of Pharmacy professional pharmacy fraternity Lambda Kappa Sigma (LKS), the student Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association chapter, and is a member of the LKS and Duquesne University Alumni Associations.
