On January 17, 2024, the Duquesne's College of Medicine opened its doors during a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The newly constructed 80,000 square foot, state-of-the-art building is located on Duquesne’s campus on Forbes Avenue in uptown Pittsburgh. 

The Medical School’s location provides you direct access to Duquesne’s Gumberg Library (with its dedicated medical library), the cadaver lab, additional research labs, as well as all campus amenities, including the Power Center fitness facilities, Health Services, a variety of food options, the Duquesne University Chapel and much more.

Equipped with the latest in medical simulation technology, you will be immersed in a realistic clinical setting including our simulation hospital and standardized patient center to prepare for work with real patients in an integrative health care environment. 

Here, you will work alongside other Duquesne health professionals, including pharmacy, nursing and health science peers and faculty as a fully integrated care team. You will benefit from face-to-face interactions simulating a wide range of patient-care situations faced by health professionals. Those experiences will help you develop the crucial clinical and communication skills needed to improve the quality of care for your patients. 

The standardized patient center includes 12 outpatient examination rooms modeled after an outpatient clinical practice where students will engage with standardized patient actors to learn and refine interpersonal, communication, and clinical skills. The simulation hospital includes several simulated healthcare environments each equipped with a diverse collection of high-fidelity simulators:

• Operating Room 
• 3-Bed Emergency Room 
• Labor and Delivery Room 
• Ultrasound Lab 
• Skills Briefing and Debriefing Rooms
• Intensive Care Unit
• Med-Surg Inpatient Exam Room

You will use the latest in medical training technology with HoloAnatomy, a mixed augmented reality learning platform with a colorful state-of-the-art lab will help you gain a better understanding of the human anatomy system-by-system.

Duquesne's College of Medicine is leading the way as one of only a few medical schools in the country that incorporates the HoloAnatomy holographic imaging technology in our curriculum. The technology offers:

• A light-weight headset device for each student working in the HoloAnatomy lab. Duquesne has 50 devices available!
• User-friendly, interactive system that can be voice- and hand-activated to get you closer to the smallest details of the human body–even heart-strings!
• An open system for project collaboration with peers and faculty–unlike other individualized systems such as AnatomyX.
• Large group instruction capabilities, guided by supportive faculty to prepare you for your medical exams.
• Small group experiential learning and research opportunities that provide a horizon-expanding education.

Medical students will learn and develop hands-on skills in this state-of-the-art learning environment equipped with exam tables and technology to facilitate learning. Students will receive instruction and refine history-taking, physical examination, interpersonal and communication, and procedural skills including OMM.  Students will learn to incorporate osteopathic principles and techniques into everyday patient care.  

You will train in high-quality healthcare environments and develop your clinical skills with hands-on educational experiences in your third- and fourth-year clinical rotations. you will be preparing to join the next generation of physicians who will impact the patients, healthcare systems and communities within the Pittsburgh region and beyond.
