Hunkele Dreaded Disease Award

The Duquesne University Hunkele Dreaded Disease Award is administered as a competitive grants program. It provides money for investigators conducting biomedical research on major, life-threatening diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes that could ultimately lead to a direct cure for the disease. All full-time faculty are eligible to apply; funding is $10,000.

Faculty Development Fund  

The Duquesne University Faculty Development Fund (FDF) Award is administered as a competitive grants program. FDF awards are seed money, designed to help faculty begin their scholarly work or initiate work in a new direction.

  •     Preference will be given to junior faculty and to multidisciplinary projects. 
  •     Eligible projects may be funded up to $10,000.
  • All full-time faculty are eligible, regardless of the number of previous FDF awards that they have received.

The deadline for proposals is Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Charles Henry Leach II Fund

The Charles Henry Leach II Fund grant competition is designed to benefit Duquesne University faculty and University-related projects that focus on:

  • The prevention of cruelty to animals
  • The mental and/or physical health and education of underprivileged and/or abused children
  • The protection of the environment
  • Scientific research

Eligible projects may be funded from $1,000 to $25,000 for 1 year
